I can’t believe June is coming to an end! We spend all winter waiting to switch our boots for sandals and sweaters for t-shirts, only to see summer flying by.

Since summer only comes once a year, I’ve been trying to make a more conscious effort to build some R&R time into my schedule.

Because I’m so passionate about my business, I feel like my work is play. However, I have to remind myself that it’s important to take a true mental break & put away the laptop once the weekend rolls around!

Last Sunday I was at Prospect Park with a group of friends, including Nathalie Lussier and her cute pup Millie. Nathalie is a business strategist and digital visionary, who is also super sweet and passionate about her work.

Taking a break with Nathalie was incredibly healthy. It gave me the time to enjoy the beautiful weather and the company of my friends. But it was also great because by the time I got home, I felt refreshed and ready to take on the week ahead.

For those looking to build more relaxation into your summer, here’s a mini list of things you can do:

•Lay on a beach and dip your toes in the ocean

•Sip cocktails on a rooftop, enjoying the skyline

•Pack a gourmet picnic + head to the park with friends

…or the one thing you’ve been meaning to do all year!

P.S.  Speaking of my friend Nathalie Lussier, she is launching her exciting 30-Day Challenge to double your email list in just a month!

It’s a great way to boost your business + it’s totally free. Throughout the challenge Natalie will be sending you checklists, video trainings, and a chance to win cool prizes.

As many of you know, with a solid email list you can work less rather than more. What could be more perfect for summer?

Finding Your Dream Job

Dear Friend,

If you’re like me, doing work you love isn’t just a luxury, it’s a necessity.

About three years ago, I left my job at a nonprofit to go to business school at NYU Stern. I was in a class of 400 people from all over the world. By choosing to get an MBA, each of us had committed two years of our time (and over $100,000) in pursuit of a better career and a better life.

While all of my classmates were smart and ambitious, I always felt out of place. Most people wanted to be an investment banker or a consultant. A handful wanted to work in marketing at a big company like L’Oreal or Kraft.

While on the outside these options seemed quite glamorous, none of them felt right to me.

I remember going to a job recruitment event, hosted by a prestigious consulting firm. At that point in the year, dozens of companies had held these events, and I figured that I might as well go to at least one of them.

Dressed in stiff, formal business attire and being surrounded by a sea of black business suits, I remember saying to myself, “What am I doing here?!” I was bored out of my mind. Getting one of these “prestigious” jobs would have been like prison to me.

Over time I realized that it didn’t matter what the job was. The ONLY way for me to be happy was to be my own boss and create my dream job. Today I feel blessed to say that this is the life I live. I have the privilege of working with the most amazing entrepreneurs and helping them grow their businesses.

Because I am so passionate about this topic, I’m excited to be speaking on a panel called Accessing Your Dream Career.

It’s on Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm. If you’re in NYC, I’d love for you to join us.

A bit about the other speakers:

NITIKA CHOPRA (the host)

  • My friend Nitika is the founder of Your Bella Life, an online magazine for women looking to live their best lives. Earlier this year, she also got her own TV show, which will air this summer!
  • Rachel is the behind-the-scenes genius responsible for producing some of the hottest events. Her clients include companies such as Lululemon and LYFE Kitchen to individuals like Marie Forleo, Kris Carr, and Dr. Mark Hyman.
  • Melisse is the co-founder of Well+Good, a leading online magazine and newsletter dedicated to the fitness and wellness scene in NYC. Previously, Melisse was the editor-in-chief of and the spa beauty editor at Luxury SpaFinder Magazine. This required her to travel to 100-plus spas on five continents, which sounds like a dream job to me!
  • Michelle is the co-founder of IAM. creative, a full-service marketing agency specializing in web design and brand development. Michelle and her team have designed some of the most drop-dead gorgeous websites I have seen for brands in the personal development & wellness space. If you’re thinking of getting a new website (or revamping your existing one), I suggest checking her company out!
This event is going to be such a blast. If you’d like to join us & take a step closer to your dream career, make sure to get your ticket today!

Feeling overwhelmed?

Right now, all of my entrepreneur friends are starting to get really busy. Maybe something is in the air, because I’m feeling it too. Are you?

For many of us, being busy tends to lead to being overwhelmed. The unfortunate thing is that when most of us feel overwhelmed, we tend to just complain. We feel bad about our situation, but take very little action to change it.

Someone wise once told me that overwhelm is a pile of decisions waiting to be made. How true! When we have too much on our plate, we don’t have the energy to make decisions and deal with what comes our way.

My favorite way to combat overwhelm is delegation, which is something I’ve become very good at. Before business school and starting my own company, I worked at a women’s nonprofit for three years. I loved my job, but I had an endless amount of work. I found myself working late evenings and most weekends. Out of necessity, I hired two full-time interns. It changed my life. It gave me breathing room.

Now I’d love to hear from you:
•Is there a place in your life where you’re feeling overwhelmed?
•Are there projects or tasks that you could delegate that would give you immediate relief?
•If yes, then who would you bring on to help you?

Let me know — I would love to hear from you!

P.S. For those of you in NYC, save the date for Wednesday, 3/27 at 6:30pm. I’ll be hosting a live, free workshop on how to find great interns. For those of you outside of NYC, not to worry! I’ll be sending you some tips in an upcoming newsletter to help you do the same. =)

Top 3 Ways to Love Yourself This Valentines Day

Posted on by Selena Soo, in 'Relationships, Self-care'

Hi friends!

I’m excited to introduce you to the Self-Love Tour, created by my friends Ali Leipzig and Natalie Berthold.

Learn more about this bi-weekly web tv series by clicking on the image below. You can also enjoy a special guest post by Ali & Natalie directly below.

On Valentine’s Day, it’s so easy to get caught up in fear-based thinking. If you are single, you can get down on yourself for not being in a relationship and you start thinking that you aren’t good enough. No good! And if you are in a relationship, it’s easy to focus on the things that are wrong in the relationship because you put way too much pressure on your love to give you everything you need. Also no good!

Well, this year, we want you to think about how you can love yourself up. When you love yourself first, you are able to love that much more in your relationship, connect with others on a deeper level, and be more open to attract the love that you desire. The more you love yourself, the more love.

Here are our top 3 ways to bring more self-love into your life:

  • Treat Yourself To Something Nice. Buy yourself a dozen roses, cook yourself a beautiful meal, get a massage, draw a bath and simmer in some rose-scented bubbles for a few.
  • Create a Love Yo’Self List. Make a list of everything you love about yourself. Include it all. You love your butt? Awesome. You love how great a listener you are? Amazing.
  • Spend QT (Quality Time) With You. In order to love yourself more, you need to get to know yourself better. Spend some time with just you- journal, meditate, take yourself for a walk, go window shopping. Whatever it is, make a conscious connection with yourself and have fun!

We have seen miracles when women start loving themselves. Careers blossom, relationships deepen, and health and happiness became a priority. Because we know the importance of self-love, we are so excited to share with you our webTV series where you will actually be able to see and discover fun ways to show yourself love. Visit to learn more!
